ABOUT

Fondation Douassoh

For the well-being and entrepreneurship of women in rural areas.

Fondation Douassoh leads The Hives of Hope, a structuring programme for the economic transformation of rural women through beekeeping, rooted in the Gontougo region of Côte d'Ivoire.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Since the start of this programme, one conviction has guided us: the women of Gontougo don't need decisions made for them — they need the means to act. A hive, a training, a collective organisation are enough to turn a secondary activity into a genuine source of income.

What we are building here does not stop at beekeeping. It is a method: equip, train, structure, transform. It has already shown its coherence on paper; it now needs partners to exist in the field, at the scale where it can truly change things.

Every contribution — whether it funds hives, technical support, or beekeeping equipment — goes directly to the women carrying this project forward every day. I invite you to join us, not as a one-off donor, but as a partner in a development effort being built step by step, with rigour and with them.

Head and patron of The Hives of Hope programme, Fondation Douassoh

Why we act

Rural women in Gontougo play a central role in the local agricultural economy, without always being able to capture its value. The Foundation works to turn their labour into lasting income and real independence.

Our approach

Equip, train, structure, process: the Foundation supports each association step by step, from hive installation to honey commercialisation.

Our vision

Making biodiversity a driver of local economic development, where beekeeping, women's empowerment, and pollinator protection move forward together.

Our commitment to rural women

Viewing them as producers, managers, and decision-makers at every stage, never as mere beneficiaries at the end of the chain.

Our environmental commitment

Strengthening pollinator populations, preserving pollination services, and encouraging farming practices compatible with the region's biodiversity.

Our approach to local development

Building a complete value chain across the region, from the hive to processing, so that the value created stays in Gontougo.

IN THE FIELD

A genuine awareness campaign

An action led by Fondation Douassoh in the field.

During International Women's Rights Day, Fondation Douassoh presented the programme's beekeeping equipment and raised participants' awareness of beekeeping as a path to economic empowerment.

This event illustrates the Foundation's fieldwork: raising awareness before equipping, and equipping before structuring.
